Twin Mountains (Fairy breast mountains)

The Twin Mountains of Quan Ba, renowned for their striking resemblance to each other, are also referred to as the Fairy Breast Mountains. This evocative name is steeped in local folklore, specifically a Hmong legend that tells a captivating story. According to the legend, a man from the Hmong ethnic group possessed a magical whistle whose enchanting melody caught the attention of a celestial fairy from the heavens. Enraptured by the music, the fairy descended to the earth but was soon called back by the Jade Emperor, who was enraged by her absence from the heavenly realm. As the fairy was departing, she had left behind a child born from her union with the Hmong man. To ensure the child’s sustenance, she transformed her own pair of breasts into a source of nourishment for the infant. Over the course of time, these mystical appendages took on the form of the two rounded mountains that now grace the landscape.
